Malaysian organisations continued to be recognised for technological leadership and innovation at the global stage, clinching several awards at the 2017 WITSA Global ICT Excellence Awards (WITSA-GIEA) and the Asian-Oceanian Computing Industry (ASOCIO) awards. Both award ceremonies were held in conjunction with the 21st World Congress on IT (WCIT) Summit 2017 in Taipei, Taiwan.

PIKOM’s 71-strong delegation of business leaders to the WCIT was the largest foreign delegation to the summit. In conjunction with the event, PIKOM organised an industry trip for its members to Taiwan, to forge stronger business ties with Taiwan’s ICT sector, to facilitate technology and knowledge transfer, and foster networking and business matching opportunities. They also explored sub-industries such as robotics, artificial intelligence, automation, Internet of Things, Industry 4.0 and Smart of Things.

PIKOM’s participation in this year’s WCIT and the subsequent award wins in WITSA-GIEA and ASOCIO reflect Malaysia’s continued spirit of excellence, and that local companies can compete with the best in the world, observed Chin Chee Seong, PIKOM chairman.

“The win continues our track record of industry excellence at global levels. These companies pitted themselves against the best of the best and have done well,” Chin said. “We invite more local companies to participate: such award competitions are the ideal ground to hone your competitive positioning and test yourself against the best of the best. PIKOM congratulates all winners and merit award recipients.”
