Epson launched two portable scanners for convenient on-the-go scanning. The WorkForce DS-310 and DS-360W scanners are said to be among the fastest in the market and the first in Southeast Asia to incorporate an automatic document feeder.

The scanners can process up to 25 pages per minute or 50 images per minute at 300dpi resolution. The DS-310 and DS-360W weigh 1.1kg and 1.3kg, making them easy to be carried in bags and briefcases.

For added portability, the scanners can be powered via USB 3.0 cable without requiring an AC adaptor. The DS-360W also comes with a built-in battery which can be charged with a USB cable. It also has Wi-Fi connectivity to become an access point for devices.

The scanners can accept a variety of media with from 52 to 230gsm in thickness (including business and plastic cards) and paper sizes up to 1.1m in length.

Advanced software in the scanners can enhance scanned text to improve character recognition. It has an auto area segmentation feature that detects and scans text and images separately. Another feature, document skew correction, can automatically adjust and straighten scanned images.

“The new portable WordForce DS-310 and DS-360W are power-packed with features in a compact and lightweight body, and well-suited for the busy road warrior. With the Automatic Document Feeder, scanning while on-the-move can be done more quickly with greater convenience,” said Danny Lee, general manager, sales & marketing, Epson Malaysia.
